The fundamental purpose of Continuing Ministerial Development is to equip and develop the Church’s ministers in order that they may stimulate and enable the whole Church to participate more fully in worship and in the mission of God in the world.
There is an expectation that all clergy taking up new appointments as incumbents will participate in ‘Incumbency Skills’, 'Building Resilience' Cognacity workshop and the 'Discerning Mission - Leadign for Change'. They are free to all taking up incumbent roles, and are funded centrally, with no contribution required from participant’s personal CMD Grants.
For clergy ordained for a period of over ten years ‘Renewing Vision, Renewing Ministry’ may be offered at the recommendation of their Area Bishop, or Archdeacon. This course is also free to those who attend.
A residential course run jointly across the Eastern Region for those new to Incumbency, or equivalent posts.
Developing leaders who will resource and support the ministry of others in a shared mission.
A residential course offered to those with experience, a chance to re-energise the sense of mission.
An informal training event offering an opportunity for mutual support and fellowship for Area Deans.
